Quick Tips for Budgeting for your Wedding Planning
Wedding planning can be expensive and here are some of our top tips for budgeting.
Timing
If you are flexible on day - we recommend looking at non-traditional days to get married. Thursday weddings are growing in popularity and work well for destination weddings.
Also think about getting married off-peak, this is typically from November to March. These months aren’t as popular.
Some suppliers, such as venues can offer a discount for getting married during the off-peak seasons or days. These allow you to get the suppliers you want at a discounted rate.
Please note: not all suppliers will offer these discounts - suppliers such as florists, caterers and photographers are often in demand and won’t offer discounts for off-peak weddings.
Get quotes from multiple suppliers
We always recommend looking into multiple suppliers for the same category to check their availability and pricing. Whilst we appreciate that you may have your heart set on a particular supplier, but for the categories that you don’t have a preference but want them (such as photobooth or DJ), we recommend getting multiple quotes to compare.
Have a contingency fund
We always recommend having a contingency fund built into your budget. There will always be some unexpected costs at the last minute and it is good to have this buffer. For those with tight budgets, this may not be do-able but always add £100 to the pricing scales you find.
Top tip: it can be hard to create a budget if you don’t know the rough pricing scales for each category. There are lots of guides online but please do check how recent, as some of them may contain old guidelines, which doesn’t help with your budgeting.
All Inclusive packagesFor those wanting to stick to a budget or stay under the budget. We recommend booking a venue with an all inclusive package, whilst this does limit your creativity for your wedding day. It also limits the number of things you need to source yourself, which stops you from going over on your budget.
